Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the West. Come on in, pull up a chair, and let's talk about Story.
From Publishers Weekly (11/6)
"Hannah Smith at Owl Hollow Press has bought world rights to author Darby Karchut’s Spanish Red, in which an 11-year-old boy learns his estranged father may not be the family villain after all, and that it will take one extraordinary horse to mend the hearts of both father and son. Publication is planned for Fall 2019."
~ SCHOOL VISITS ~
Having taught both 5th and 7th grades, schools are my happy place!
I'm currently offering five different presentations.
See below for descriptions.
In-Person or Skype Presentations:
(between 35 - 45 minutes)
1. "Putting Clothes on a Skeleton: Revising/Editing in Layers"
most popular with elementary schools!
2. "Five Ways to Plot A Story: Never Start at the Beginning"
3. "Behind-The-Scene Creation of Book Covers: Never Start
with the Title"
4. "World-Building Like An Anthropologist"
5. "Female and Male Archetypes/Overview of the
Hero's Journey" perfect for middle schools!
All presentations can be scaled up or down depending on grade levels. I'm also happy to work with teachers and librarians to tailor a presentation to fit the needs of the school.
