Darby Karchut is an award-winning author, dreamer, and compulsive dawn greeter. A proud native of New Mexico, she now lives in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, where she runs in blizzards and bikes in lightning storms.

                                            ~   SCHOOL VISITS   ~

Having taught both 5th grade and 7th grade, schools are my happy place!

4th - 6th Grade Presentation:

My thirty to forty minutes presentation focuses on how to plot a story (never start at the beginning) and a behind-the-scene look at the creation of a book cover (never start with the title).

6th-8th Grade Presentation:

My thirty to forty minute presentation focuses on archetypal characters found in teen literature, as well as an overview of archetypal settings and the hero's journey.

Both these presentations can be scaled up or down. I am also happy to work with teachers and librarians to tailor a presentation to fit the needs of the school. I'm happy to Skype, too!

Books: If students wish to purchase autographed copies, books can be purchased directly through me (at a discount) or through book sellers worldwide.

Contact me for the details at darbykarchut@gmail.com. Students may also bring their own copies to be autographed.

I looked forward to hanging out with your students and sharing the love of reading and writing with them!
